FAQs
Q. How much room do you need for the tank farm?
A. This is determined on a case by case basis. The size of the tank farm will be directly related to the size of both the homes and the project. For more information, contact a Sharp representative at 877-GET-CGS-0 or 877-438-2470.
Q. What will the CGS™ Propane Distribution Systems tank look like?
A. Our tanks are located underground so all you will see are the domes of the tanks. The only thing that will be noticeable is the fence around the regulator station. We always try to blend the fencing in with the look and feel of the development to make it as aesthetically pleasing. There are also ways to landscape around the tank farm area to make it barely noticeable.
Q. When will the Sharp team be introduced into the construction process of a new development?
A. Due to the amount of prep work at the beginning of the installation process, we prefer to be on site after the water lines are complete. We have on-site construction coordinators that will work with your site superintendents to ensure that the lines arrive at the site before you need them.
Q. How much cover is required on your underground piping?
A. We require 36" of cover on our mains -- which is less than the water lines, but, more than the electric company requires on their primary runs. The amount of cover for our service lines is 18".
Q. Are you part of the Miss Utility or One Call System?
A. Yes.
Q. How do I know that I am not turning my customers over to someone that is going to charge them excessively?
A. Sharp has several pricing plans and programs that are available to all of our CGS™ Propane Distribution Systems customers. Sharp's ProCap program provides an innovative pricing mechanism to protect consumers and provide more stable fuel prices. We also provide contractual community pricing for your homebuyers' protection. Q. How often will your truck come and fill the tanks?
A. This is completely dependent on the weather. When the weather is extremely cold we may have to fill the tanks as often as once a week. At Sharp, we also implement several innovative technologies such as tank level monitoring, pressure monitoring, and automated meter reading to ensure that we know when the tanks need to be filled. However, once warmer weather comes along we won't need to fill them for several months at a time. These systems help us to monitor the levels of propane in the tanks and ensure that there is always an adequate capacity stored. This helps us to reduce the chance of experiencing an energy shortage.
Q. Are there any size requirements for Community Gas Systems™ Propane Distribution Systems?
A. We can do any size development from 15 homes to as large as you can build it.
