Q. What is a Sharp Community Gas System™ (CGS)?

Q. What are the benefits of a Sharp Community Gas System™ (CGS)?

A. There are numerous benefits to having a Sharp CGS™ in your development:

  1. With CGS™, you eliminate the need for individual tanks at each residence, therefore creating a central fuel storage location for a more attractive neighborhood.
  2. The CGS™ in your development is designed to be convertible to natural gas should it ever become available in your area.
  3. Sharp provides metered installations for more manageable bills, as well as many other innovative technologies.
  4. With a central storage site, Sharp's delivery costs are reduced and we are able to offer special pricing programs to save you money.
  5. Sharp's veteran staff has the experience to provide you with the safest and most technologically advanced method of delivering gas to your home.

Q. When applying for a credit application for gas services, do I need to include my social security number?

A. No, as long as you provide an address where you have lived for at least the past five years, you do not need to include your social security number.


Q. When applying for a credit application for gas services, do I need to fill in the credit card information? If I include the credit card information does that mean I won't receive a bill?

A. No, credit card authorization only applies in the event that your bill is 30 days past due. Having credit card information would allow us to charge a payment in the event that the statement amount goes 30 days past due. You will still receive a monthly statement.


Q. If I have purchased a home that has a Community Gas System™ in my development, does that mean I don't have a choice of who I can purchase my propane from?

A. Sharp Energy entered into a contract with your builder to install a state-of-the-art Community Gas System™ in your development and provides the fuel at a special rate to homeowners. Sharp Energy owns the equipment that delivers the gas and is the exclusive provider of propane.


Q. How do I know that I will get the best rate if I have no other options for providers?

A. Sharp Energy is a reputable company that values its customers. We provide a discounted rate to our community gas customers to illustrate our strong emphasis on customer service. Sharp Energy also offers a price cap program which provides protection against spikes in the market as well as a budget billing plan to help our customers plan effectively.


Q. What will my average monthly bill be?

A. There are a number of factors that influence your monthly charges . Some of these factors will include: if your home is a seasonal home or a primary residence; how many people live there; what the temperature is outside; what appliances use gas; how well insulated the home is; what the square footage of the home is; what temperature you set the thermostat at; and much more. All of these factors are used to determine the billing estimation.


Q. What is the billing frequency?

A. Statements are generated and mailed monthly.


Q. What are your hours of operation?

A. Our office is open Monday though Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. During regular business hours we can be reached at 302-537-6912. If you have an emergency after hours, you will need to call 1-877-GET-CGS0 (1-877-438-2470).


Q. Where do I mail my payments?

Q. What should I do if I smell gas?

A. The first thing you should do if you smell gas is to get everyone away from the area. Make sure that you extinguish any open flames and do not flip light switches, or use lighters, matches or any appliances until you are safely away from the area – this includes cell phones! Once you are a safe distance away, please call Sharp at 1-877-GET-CGS-0. A customer service representative will advise you with what to next and send a qualified service technician to your place of residence. Do not return to your home, or to the area, until you have been advised to do so by a Sharp technician. For more information, on safety, click here.
