Sharp's Commitment to Safety

Propane is a trusted and reliable energy source used by millions of Americans each day. As an alternative fuel, propane has a narrow range of flammability and is non-toxic and non-poisonous. Unlike gasoline, propane is stored in closed containers and vaporizes instantly when released (Source: National Propane Gas Association).

Consumer safety is a top priority for Sharp Energy. Tanks are closely monitored and frequently inspected by veteran Sharp employees or qualified trade partners. Sharp includes water bath vaporizers in every applicable installation to ensure that you are not at risk. Our dedicated staff is on call to address any safety questions about your service.

It is important to evacuate your home or outdoor area immediately if you ever smell gas or if you are aware that someone has disrupted a gas line while digging. Gas is mixed with a sulphur odor so that you will recognize the unpleasant “rotten egg” smell if a leak ever occurs. While uncommon, take the following steps if you smell gas:

Inside your home:

  • Alert others and leave your house immediately
  • Don't use matches, lighters or any appliances, including cell phones
  • Extinguish any open flames
  • Don't touch anything electrical or flip a light switch
  • Don't use your phone until you are outside
  • Call Sharp on the 24-hour emergency hotline 1-877-GET-CGS-0 once you are safely outside
  • Don't return to your house until the problem has been corrected, a Sharp representative or designated contractor has inspected it, and the area has been declared safe

Outside your home:

  • Alert others and leave the area immediately
  • Call Sharp on the 24-hour emergency hotline 1-877-GET-CGS-0 once you are safely away from the leak area
  • Don't return to the area until the problem has been corrected, a Sharp representative or designated contractor has inspected it, and the area has been declared safe
